Luann Rushin

  • MEET LUANN RUSHIN!  After leaving a job as pharmaceutical rep to stay home with her now grown children, Luann was introduced to Arbonne. With the company’s focus on healthy living inside & out, Luann found that by coaching clients to use food to nourish and heal their bodies, many no longer required the traditional medications. They were able to improve their health, many having tremendous results.  You can find Luann hosting “clean eating dinners” in her home and taking groups to the farmers’ market to shop for fresh and wholesome food. Luann loves to build relationships; 9 years ago founded the Johns Creek Business Women’s Network to support and encourage other women in business. Luann has been married to her husband,Tony, for 36 years; her most  favorite thing in the world is to spend time with her family. Luann is honest, genuine, and truly cares about helping others be the best they can be.

Q: How long have you lived or worked in Johns Creek?

A: We have lived in Johns Creeks (formerly Alpharetta) for 25 years as of April this year.

Q: What is your favorite restaurant in Johns Creek, and what do you love there?

A: Sugo is one of my favorite restaurants in Johns Creek. We even had my daughters’ rehearsal dinner there…what great memories!  I love the salmon & the bacon wrapped figs.

Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in Johns Creek?

A: I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Marilyn Margolis, CEO of Emory Johns Creek, a couple of times.  I love a good story of how someone truly worked their way up the ranks to where they are now.  Marilyn began her career as a nurse & her career took many turns.  She worked her way through the ranks of hospital management when it was a male-dominated field and I thoroughly enjoyed hearing about it.  The fact that she is from Pennsylvania too is the icing on the cake!

Q: What inspired you or led you to your current career?

A: A  love for wellness & educating people about the power of nutrition. I use a company called Arbonne as my avenue to make this happen.  I was a pharmaceutical rep in the past and found Arbonne to be in better alignment with my vision of wellness.

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be? And why?

A: I would love to take a European river Cruise.  It’s a great way to see the beautiful countryside with access to small towns along the way. I love that you could sit on your balcony with a glass of wine and enjoy the view!

Q: What is your favorite movie OR what is the first movie you remember seeing in a theater?

A: Planet of the Apes is one of my first movie memories. I think it cost 25 cents to see a matinee and you could get popcorn and candy for another 25 cents. Things have changed a tad!

Q: What advice would you give a crowd of people?

A: Engage with each other, make a new friend and simply be kind. There are so many great connections waiting to happen.

Q: Aside from travel, what is something on your bucket list?

A: I plan to continue grow and try new things even as I age. I want to make yoga more of my everyday life and maybe even become an instructor someday. Learning a second language is on my bucket list too and then I will to travel to see how well I picked it up!

Q: What is your favorite music/band that you would like to see (dead or alive)?

A: I’ve liked country music since going to grad school in Tucson, Arizona.  My dad used to have the 8 track of Johnny Cash and I knew every song.  I would love to have seen Johnny Cash.  He just seemed so real and was in tune with audiences of all kinds.

Q: What current / former local business makes you the most nostalgic about Johns Creek?

A: I used to love the kids oriented stores behind Burger King on Kimball Bridge and Jones Bridge. My kids loved going to the toy store and then heading over to Paintworx to paint a ceramic piece.

Q: Choosing anyone alive and a non-relative: with whom would you love to have lunch? Why?  Where in Johns Creek would you have lunch?

A: I would love to have lunch with former President George W. Bush.  To me,he is so much more than a past president.  He seems “normal”, if you will, and has done so much for the world since then.  I love that he doesn’t demand attention that others do when serving the world.  I think I’d take him to Avocado Vegan Cafe….I’m not vegan and don’t eat there often but I do enjoy the great flavors and food and I think the Texan could use a break from steak as well!

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about Johns Creek?

A: I have been in the area 25 years and it is amazing to see the growth has happened. I love seeing what’s next and how the city is ever changing and becoming more and more diverse.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 or 10 years?

I see myself mentoring more and more people in my business with healthy living. I expect I will be traveling more and enjoying visiting new areas.

Q: What is something interesting that most people (including family and friends) don’t know about you?

A:  I grew up on a very rural area called Beaverdam, PA.

Q: What 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?

A: Peace, love, and comfort.

Q: If you were cast into a major motion picture and had your choice of anyone to be your co-star, who would you choose?

A: Probably Jennifer Lawrence. She doesn’t seem to take herself too seriously, seems to enjoy life and has some definite boundaries. From what I hear she is fiercely loyal and I like that.

Q: If you had a full-time staff member that was fully paid for, who would you choose?                                                                    Chef, Housekeeper, Driver, Coach, Physical Fitness Trainer, or Nanny?

A: I would choose a personal trainer. I eat really well and clean but could use a little accountability to hit my fitness goals. A personal trainer coming to the house would do it and compliment the rest of my lifestyle.
