Dwight Pitts

MEET DWIGHT PITTS! This is one amazing patient care technician at Emory Johns Creek Hospital. Having a family member personally experience Dwight’s exceptional care during a recent stay at EJCH, I just knew the Johns Creek community needed to get to know this man. Dwight is patient, kind, caring and a wonderful listener. His parents were right…his calling in the healthcare field suits him perfectly.

Q: How long have you lived or worked in Johns Creek?

A:  I have worked at Emory Johns Creek Hospital for 1½ years.

Q: What is your favorite restaurant in Johns Creek, and what do you love there?

A:  I love Jason’s Deli.  My favorite sandwich is the Beef Eater.

Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in Johns Creek?

A: I once took care of a 110 year old lady who had the most bubbly personality. She could stand up with a  walker with a little assistance, she could walk and move with little help from me; it was very impressive. She had a positive outlook on life. She was full of life at 110!

Q: What inspired you or led you to your current career?

A: When I was very young, I used to help take care of my grandparents. My mom was the first person that told me that the patient care field would be a custom fit for me. My Dad is the second person that told me that.

They are divorced, but I was being told this from both sides; they have both been in the medical field for many years. My mom was a Nurse for many years and now she is an inspector in the state of Connecticut. My Dad has been a Patient Technician for years and he had his own healthcare business. He schooled me and my older brother in how to do things based on your personality and the heart that you have for the patient’s well being. I tried several other careers but always came back to what I a doing now. I really enjoy what I do.

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be?  And why?

A: I would travel to Puerto Rico or Jamaica.

Q: What is your favorite movie OR what is the first movie you remember seeing in a theater?

A: My most favorite movie was The Godfather II…best sequel ever! I love the story lines; it’s put together well. I used to watch The Lion King all the time, that is one of my favorite movies too.

Q: What advice would you give a crowd of people?

A: Be yourself, always be yourself. Everybody might not like you but as long as you like and love yourself, you should be alright.

Q: Aside from travel, what is something on your bucket list?

A:  I want to try something adventurous. I want to try something different like going in a hot air balloon or sky driving…something that will get my blood flowing a little bit, well, maybe a lot!

Q: What is your favorite music/band that you would like to see (dead or alive)?

A: I think one of my favorite entertainers would be Sheila E; I love her music. I would have loved to have been able to listen to Teena Marie live in concert. Both of my parents are big fans; I still have her music in my music library and playlist.

Q: What current / former local business makes you the most nostalgic about Johns Creek?

A: Probably Jason’s Deli.

Q: Choosing anyone alive and a non-relative: with whom would you love to have lunch? Why?  Where in Johns Creek would you have lunch?

A: I would have lunch with my boss, Adrienne Harris. She runs this 4th floor and we actually have a great relationship. We would go to the only place I know, because I go there a lot… Jason’s Deli.

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about Johns Creek?

A: Johns Creek Hospital, there is something very unique about this hospital. When I first came here, it seemed like a calm, peaceful, respectful, and happy place to work. There is something special about this hospital that just set my spirit right, that’s why I chose to be a part of the team.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 or 10 years?

A: I will likely still be in the Atlanta area and I’d like to do more schooling, possibly have a different title.

Q: What is something interesting that most people (including family and friends) don’t know about you?

A:  I am weird in a sense; I have a great bubbly personality, and do well around big crowds. I’ve spoken to big crowds, but I really enjoy my alone time too.

Q: What 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?

A: That’s my safe haven, that’s the place that I go. You just get to go home, kick your feet up and relax, just exhale. That’s a resting place.

Q: If you were cast into a major motion picture and had your choice of anyone to be your co-star, who would you choose?

A: Erykah Badu, I like her personality. She is an American singer-songwriter, record producer and actress.

Q: If you had a full-time staff member that was fully paid for, who would you choose?                                                              Chef, Housekeeper, Driver, Coach, Physical Fitness Trainer, or Nanny?

A: I would choose a Chef!  I love food but don’t always feel like cooking when I get home or on my days off.
