Roger Wise

Meet Roger Wise! Raised in North Carolina, Roger Wise is very family-oriented, and certainly a most interesting man who loves to share his wisdom to everyone in Johns Creek.  A role model in teaching the value of kindness and good deeds; he calls this, “paying your civic rent”. Q:  How long have you lived or worked in Johns Creek?

A:  40 Years.

Q:  What is your favorite restaurant in Johns Creek, and what do you love there?

A: Reveille Cafe, I love Eggs Benedict! It’s a Veterans’ hangout. All of the staff are very good; they are all Veteran and community oriented. I think we should spend our money with those that present themselves in a proper way to our community.

Q:  Who is the most interesting person you’ve met in Johns Creek?

A:  Col. Rick White; he is a very unique individual that is extremely well respected, not only within our state, but around our Nation.

Q: What inspired you or led you to your current career?

A:  I was in the Army Medical Corp; I retired after 30 years. Now I pay my civic duty.

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be? And why?

A:  My wife and I enjoy history so we would like to explore New England. There’s a lot of history in that part of the country. We are planning to take the river cruise.

Q:  What is your favorite movie OR what is the first movie you remember seeing in a theater?

A:  My favorite movie is Gone with the Wind. I just love it because I love history.

Q: What advice would you give a crowd of people?

A:  Life is a series of circles, be kind in general. I tell them to look at the person in the mirror. Start making friends right now, in order to have friends, you have to be a friend. In order to be a true friend, you’ve got to be a true friend.

Q:  Aside from travel, what is something on your bucket list?

A:  My bucket list is my family, I’m blessed we are all right here and heritage to me is very important.  My bucket list is my family, always has been and always will be.

Q:  What is your favorite music/band that you would like to see (dead or alive)?

A: The Embers; it was the beach music band out of North Carolina.  We would go down to the beach and there would be a shagging contest. My deal was to earn enough money from the shagging contest to keep our beverages filled over the weekend and gas money to get back to school. I never let them down. I do the Carolina Beach Shag the original way it was done.

Q:  What current / former local business makes you the most nostalgic about Johns Creek?

A:  TJ’s Sports Bar and Grill, it has become a hang out. That is one of my favorite places in Johns Creek.

A:  Pres. Donald Trump, I just want to thank him and we’ll go to Raveille Cafe.

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about Johns Creek?

A:  It’s a very diverse community, it’s the people. The common ground is, we want to do whatever we can to make Johns Creek all it can be, and if the whole country had that same feeling we’d be much better off.

Q:  Where do you see yourself in 5 or 10 years?

A:  I’ll still be right here in the community, making a contribution. Watching my kids, my grand-kids grow up, watching friends that we have made.

Q: What is something interesting that most people (including family and friends) don’t know about you?

A:  I’m such an open person; I guess that I am somewhat afraid of heights.

A:  Family, friends and heritage.

Q:  If you were cast into a major motion picture and had your choice of anyone to be your co-star, who would you choose?

A:  My wife, we’ve been pushing and pulling for 48 years. We have had some major accomplishments. I could never have done what I did without her. I want her to be my co-star because she’s been my co-star for 48 years.

Q:  If you had a full-time staff member that was fully paid for, who would you choose?

Chef, Housekeeper, Driver, Coach, Physical Fitness Trainer, or Nanny ?
