MEET KENT DAVIES! Kent is the President and CEO of  the Johns Creek Chamber of Commerce, a retired Vice President of the World Financial Group, as well as President of the WFG Foundation. He also serves as a board member on the Johns Creek Advantage, the Johns Creek Arts Center Trustee Board, the Vice Chair for Gwinnett Technology Colleges, and as Director of Public Affairs for 70 Congregations of his church. He is also a community volunteer for many projects. His advocacy is to promote Johns Creek by bringing in & growing local businesses. Kent is a humble man, an adventurous guy and a loving husband to his wife Susan. They are blessed with 4 children and 10 grandchildren. To say that Kent in involved in the Johns Creek community would be an understatement! Kent promotes Johns Creek wherever he goes and is passionate about supporting others who live, work, and play in Johns Creek.

Q:  How long have you lived or worked in Johns Creek?

A:  30 years.

Q: What is your favorite restaurant in Johns Creek, and what do you love there?

A:  Pearl Lian, Rosa Mia and Jersey Mikes.

Q:  Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in Johns Creek?

A:  Wayne Bogman, He led the whole culture movement to Johns Creek. Another person is Warren Hanchey; he is the “Doc. Brown” of Johns Creek…an inventor and a scientist.

Q:  What inspired you or led you to your current career?

A:  I retired from World Financial Group 3 years ago and my wife was in charge of the project to find a new corporate headquarters so she chose Johns Creek because that’s where we lived. While working as VP of Field Relations and President of Charitable Foundations with WFG, I was invited to be on Board of Directors for the Johns Creek Chamber, and later, the Chairman of the Board.  After retiring from WFG, I became the President and CEO of the Johns Creek Chamber.

Q:  If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be?  And why?

A: Bora Bora…the water is crystal clear and there’s a lot of beautiful scenery, It’s a game preserve and protected waters for commercial fishery.

Q:  What is your favorite movie OR what is the first movie you remember seeing in a theater?

A:  Mary Poppins, I loved it when I was a kid. Start Wars when I was a teenager.

Q:  What advice would you give a crowd of people?

A:  Support the small business in the community, the arts and the culture. Support the continuation of Johns Creek.

Q:  Aside from travel, what is something on your bucket list?

A:  Lou Holtz told me to make my Life List…to write down everything I would like to do in life. One of them would be to go out with my mother and visit all the places where she grew up and write her personal history. Sky diving and to touch a Great White shark in the open ocean.

Q:  What is your favorite music/band that you would like to see (dead or alive)?

A:  Paul McCartney and the Beatles; I’m a huge fan! Every song that I liked in my entire life was sung by them.

Q: What current/former local business makes you the most nostalgic about Johns Creek?

A:  Johns Creek Art Center. My son taught for 2 years at the Johns Creek Art Center and it is my favorite and most nostalgic place.

Q:  Choosing anyone alive and a non-relative: with whom would you love to have lunch? Why?  Where in Johns Creek would you have lunch?

A:  It would be the leader of my faith in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I would take him to Saint Ives Country Club, Rosa Mia or to any of our Chamber Members’ restaurants.

Q:  What is your favorite thing or something unique about Johns Creek?

A:  Johns Creek is a premier city, period. It has premier art, recreation, medical, sports, education, fire and safety, Johns Creek has premier everything.

Q:  Where do you see yourself in 5 or 10 years?

A:  I see myself either as a Mayor in some city or having great fun with my grandchildren.

Q:  What is something interesting that most people (including family and friends) don’t know about you?

A:  I think they know everything about me, I’m not a private person.

Q: What 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?

A: Home is where the heart is, love at home and family. It is my sanctuary and peace.

Q: If you were cast into a major motion picture and had your choice of anyone to be your co-star, who would you choose?

A:  Clint Eastwood or Harrison Ford

Q:  If you had a full-time staff member that was fully paid for, who would you choose?                                                                                    Chef, Housekeeper, Driver, Coach, Physical Fitness Trainer, or Nanny?

A:  I would choose a Life Coach and a Physical Fitness Trainer.
